WBFS meets 2nd woodend scouts

Emma and David were invited last night to help with theme of bees and the environment at the 2nd Woodend Scouts. The kids got to taste lots of different honeys and learn how to use smokers properly too.

Moving jim’s honey extraction caravan to matty’s for restoration

Last Saturday, Em, Paul, and David went to transport Jim’s honey extraction caravan to Matty B’s place where it will be housed in a large shed during restoration. The cost of restoration will be met from the proceeds of the Sausage Sizzle we had at the Woodend Farmers’ Market in July.

Honey Tasting and Mead Making 21 June 2015

Today we celebrated our harvests with several members bringing samples of their honey and mead.  We also had guest, Kim Strong, talk about mead making.

Harvesting Christine’s hive 20 Feb 2015

A group from the Woodend Bee-Friendly Society helped Christine harvest her hive on a suburban block in Romsey.  She ended up with 23kg of glorious honey from 12 frames.  Thanks to Colin for showing Christine how it is done; thanks to Ross for taking the pictures.
