Swarm control with Jim Sansom

At the Woodend Bee-Friendly Society meeting on Sunday 20th September, 3-4.30pm, at Woodend Neighbourhood House, Jim Sansom will be conducting a session on Swarm Control. We are gradually moving into swarm season so this will be an immensely useful session covering:

why bees swarm
how to create conditions in your colony to promote or discourage swarming
how to create an artificial swarm
tips on capturing a swarm

Please bring a plate and $5.

  1. Hi,

I’m new to beekeeping and would like to get started this year. I’ve got my hive set up here in Woodend and am trying to capture a swarm. When do you expect bees to start swarming this year in Woodend?

    Thanks – Tony.
